Cool Weather Activities
September 20, 2021The weather is slowly starting to cool down, and your instincts are probably telling you that it’s time to stay indoors and watch movies while under a nice, cuddly blanket. But don’t listen quite yet! Autumn is actually the best time of the year to get outside and enjoy the fresh air before winter’s chill really settles in. It can be hard to think of activities other than the same old pumpkin picking and corn mazes (which you should definitely do), but there are many additional fun things you can do to make this season memorable. Here are a few ideas:
Hiking
Most people think of hiking as a summer activity, but to beat the heat, you have to get up before the sun! Hiking in the fall gives you the freedom to get out any time of the day. You also get to enjoy the beautiful colors and empty trails that come with this season.
Go to a Farmers Market
Farmers markets in the fall are full of extra delicious foods you can’t find any other time of year. Honey crisp apples, pumpkins, pomegranates, pears, squash, sweet potatoes, turnips, gords, cranberries, beets, and more! There will also likely be a stand full of delectable baked goods you can choose from, not to mention a variety of handicrafts and other fun.
Go For a Bike Ride
Biking is a great form of exercise in general, but biking through the fall landscape can do wonders for one’s mood. Even if it’s windy or chilly out, after a few minutes the exertion will warm everyone up. If biking isn’t your thing, more and more cities are offering rent-able electric scooters you can take on any bike trail.
Go Camping
This is another activity that most people do in the summer but is actually much better in the fall! There are fewer mosquitos, fewer campers, the days are less hot, and the nights are cool and perfect for campfires. There’s also nothing better than hot chocolate with the crisp morning air.
Just because the weather is getting cooler doesn’t mean that you have to hunker down indoors. Don’t let the season go by without spending time in the beautiful autumn air. What are your favorite fall activities? Share them in the comments below!
