What does it take to get the most out of your ring-bound binder? Read on for some helpful tips:
- I take my planner with me everywhere I go. How can I keep my binder’s leather in good condition?
Over time, your binder will accumulate stains, whether from its environment or simply from handling it. The leather may also begin to dry out, depending on the climate where you live. We recommend using Apple Leather Care to clean and condition your binder to protect your investment.
- How do I keep my rings in good condition?
When opening your binder, use the tabs at the top and bottom instead of pulling the rings apart. They should have a nice tight snap to them. Push the rings together to close them. You also want to make sure that you don’t overload your binder and put extra pressure on the rings every time you turn a page. We recommend adding the monthly calendar pages and three months’ worth of planning pages at a time, depending on the ring size and planner format.
Call us at 800.819.1812 if you have problems with your rings. You can receive a replacement if they are not functioning properly within 120 days of purchase.
- I love my binder, but I want to try a different size of planner. Can I take the rings out and replace them?
Some binder sizes and makes small screws down the middle. Removing these screws lets you easily remove the rings.
- How do I clean a non-leather binder?
Faux leather binders wipe clean easily with alcohol-free baby wipes, and cloth sections respond well to small quantities of fabric or upholstery cleaner. Test your cleaning solution in a small, inconspicuous spot before moving on to the rest of your binder. Keep cotton swabs and lint-free cloths handy to clean around stitching and other fine details.
- How many rings does each size binder have?
Classic and Monarch binder sizes have seven rings, while Compact and Pocket sizes have six. The real question, though, is, “Will this new planner I bought fit in my binder?” For that question, see our guide: How to Choose the Planner for You.
With a little know-how and some care, your ring-bound planner will last you through several years of important planning.
