Summer Sunset – How To End The Summer Well

Summer Sunset - How to End the Summer Well

September is almost here, bringing with it cooler weather, a stricter schedule, and the end of summer. Despite this ending looming in the near future, there’s no reason to stop crossing things off your summer bucket list. There’s still time to squeeze in last minute summer activities and make the most of every minute. Here are a few simple things you can do to continue the summer fun:

Watch an Outdoor Movie. Whether you go to a drive-in movie or set up a screen in your backyard, nothing screams summer like enjoying a movie in the great outdoors. Grab some popcorn, soda, and some candy with a fun ‘flick’ under the stars, and create a great memory for all ages.

Read a Book. Summer is for reading, and it’s even better if you can read while enjoying time outside. Turn off your phone and pick up a book or eReader for at least 30 minutes a day. Even if it’s only a weekend ritual, it’s not too late to finish a book and get that accomplished feeling. Head to your nearest library or bookstore to end the summer on a high note.

Find an Ice Cream Truck. The notorious musical notes of the summer ice cream truck are synonymous with nostalgic memories of summer. Make sure you are saving your nickels, dimes, and dollars next to the front door so you’re ready to run out when you hear those magical notes.

Have a Barbeque. Enjoy the weather while you can and grill outside. Meat is less fatty and more flavorsome when grilled, and veggies retain their nutritional goodness. Be sure to invite all your friends and family to a backyard BBQ for one last summer hurrah!

Stargazing. Get out of the city, find a spot with clear skies, and admire the beautiful stars. Take the opportunity to learn what constellations you can see and try to find them in the sky. Make sure you bring snacks and a comfy blanket so you can take your time and enjoy the view.

Have a water fight. You can find cheap water squirters at the dollar store that will allow you to stock up on supplies and create an epic battle. If your backyard is a little small, many public parks have water spickets you can use to fill up water balloons, squirters, and more.

Just because summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean you can’t still plan fun summer activities. Don’t let these last warm days go to waste, and cross off those items on your summer bucket list!
