Making Room For What Matters Most

Making room for what matters most

March often arrives as a natural pause point. The energy of the new year has settled, spring is just beginning to emerge, and many of us feel ready to reset. It’s a season that invites reflection—and an opportunity to reconsider how we’re using our time and energy.

Many of us believe that staying busy is the same as being productive. Our days are filled with tasks, meetings, and obligations, yet we often end them feeling drained and unsatisfied. The issue isn’t effort—it’s overcrowding. When your schedule is packed with constant activity, there’s little room left for the things that actually bring meaning and fulfillment.

Instead of asking what more you can add to your day, consider what you can remove. This time of year is traditionally associated with Lent, a period focused on reflection, fasting, and sacrifice. Outside of any religious context, the idea still resonates: intentionally letting go to create space. Think of it as a personal reset or a form of spring cleaning for your life—a second chance to realign after January’s resolutions faded. Overscheduling, digital distractions, and commitments that no longer serve you all take up valuable space. Letting go isn’t about doing less for the sake of it—it’s about creating room for what matters most.

Making room isn’t only about giving something up; it’s also about being intentional with what you take on. That might mean prioritizing time with family, committing to a service project, focusing on personal growth, or simply allowing space to rest and recharge. The goal is not to return to old habits once life gets busy again, but to establish patterns that bring balance and clarity.

Before you can make room, you have to decide what truly matters to you. Start small by blocking off time each day—even just 15 minutes—for activities that align with your values. When you consistently protect that space, your days begin to feel more focused and less cluttered.
It’s not about cramming more into your schedule, it’s about choosing intentionally. By releasing what no longer serves you and making space for what does, you create a life that feels more aligned, balanced, and meaningful—not just this season, but all year long.
